In Part 2 of his 2-part Coaches Corner, Memphis Grizzlies Chris Chase gets into the progressions he utilizes in hip hinging exercises. This progression is:
Body Weight
2-Legged Hinge
Single Leg Hinge
Deadlifts/RDL’s
Coach Chase also breaks down the importance of different methods of implementing each of steps including: isometric holds, different implements being utilized for resistance, different tempos utilized with the exercise, and different placements of resistance to help teach each of the progression. He also includes a step by step as to how each of these exercises are performed, including some trouble shooting for typical “errors” that you’ll see. These issues that Chris provides the trouble shooting for are ones that I see on a regular basis, and his corrections to them are fantastic.
