Today we are joined by PLAE’s Gary Sheffield to discuss his voyage as a coach. Gary starts with a bit of his back story of how he got into strength and conditioning starting as an athlete, to an Athletic Trainer, leading him to building the NHSSCA, to PLAE. We then get right into some self reflection he has had as a coach including: taking a step back and looking at what’s really important in training, understanding our bias as a coach and how that impacts programming, and self severing vs athlete serving. We finish off talking about the NHSSCA, how they built it and what direction they see it going in.
