Today I have the absolute pleaser of sitting down and discussing training and programming principles with Jake Tuura. After a quick run down of how he got to YSU, Jake dives right into how a meeting with his soccer coach has really changed his view on training and driven him to some of the unique methods he implements. He then shares with us how these questions that coaches have asked him have led to some of the alterations he has made to his training programming. He then shares with us where the idea of using isometrics came from, and what he’s seen with improving biological outputs with his athletes. He then discusses where he sees the role of intensity of training, and some reasoning he sees to why low level stimulus leads to great adaptations with his athletes. We finish off discussing the role of training and the mental aspect of performance. Make sure to give him a follow at @jaketuura on IG and http://jackedathlete.com.
